On further examination of my CIS, I found that the new cartridges which replace the Epson ones have a storage capacity of at least 3 ml so clamping the tubes would not accomplish anything. The tubes enter the cartridges on the top so would not drain back any ink already in the cartridge. I don't know what happens when the reservoir runs out of ink. I suspect suction from the nozzles would draw more ink from the tubes but it may not be enough to fill the reservoirs.
