How to print individual nozzle colors on Epson R1800

How to print individual nozzle colors on Epson R1800

2012-11-13 by ngeti

Another web site suggested I look into QuadToneRip to do this. But the web site title says only black and white printing is supported. Am I in the right place?

One of the color nozzles on my printer is plugged and I wish to test just this one to see if I can fix it. My thought is to do continuous printing to see if it will clear. I installed a CIS system and I notice that the ink drains back from the nozzles after a short while. Could this be the cause of plugged nozzles?

Yes, it could be air and not a clog. Raise the CIS (I used a small box the
CIS unit) such that the ink level is slightly above the level of the heads
-- like with the ink cartridges.

I raised this same issue with Permajet UK. They recommend that the lines are clamped at the bottles when not in use. This should prevent the nozzles drying and blocking.

On further examination of my CIS, I found that the new cartridges which replace the Epson ones have a storage capacity of at least 3 ml so clamping the tubes would not accomplish anything. The tubes enter the cartridges on the top so would not drain back any ink already in the cartridge.

I don't know what happens when the reservoir runs out of ink. I suspect suction from the nozzles would draw more ink from the tubes but it may not be enough to fill the reservoirs.
