The print that appears lighter with QTR is probably due to the straight line characteristic curve. See page 16 of http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Eboni-4-Plus.pdf for a graph that compares the QTR response curve to that of Gray Gamma 2.2 (as well as Adobe RGB). I edit in gray gamma 2.2 and the apply a Photoshop image adjustment curve to have QTR prints match my monitor. This way the file stays in the relatively standard color space. It's just another alternative to soft proofing. The GG22-to-QTR.acv curve is in my Zip files.
