Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Epson vs QTR

2013-07-01 by Jacques Caron

Hi Mr.Roark

Actually I'm using your Red River Polar Matte curve (the one from 2011-11) on an Epson 1430 with EB6 full set. Mac Mountain Lion. Last week, my prints were OK and the 21-steps tif file was printing OK.

You're right about the load since I was using an Epson Ultra Presentation Matte with the Polar curve. I think that the Epson paper is less coated or cheaper (that I don't know)

So I reprinted on the RedRiver one, problem's gone for the mottling effect. Still I have a strange problem. If you have access to my dropbox folder - Epson 1430 (I'm not very good at sharing stuff on the Internet), there is some interesting results in there.

The file "printer test A_new" shows what I'm printing and the results for Epson (epson_dr) shows a missing square in the yellow patch. The file "qtr_dr" is more like it but if you look at the file "qtr_ink_cal_30" you can see that something is wrong.

The scan is a bit blurred so I could measure the patches using my scanner and Photoshop as a densitometer (following the instructions in your pdf).

Thanks for any advice.
