You need to match the printer names and the install script names.

You are running Install9880-K7 so the printer has to be named Quad9880-K7

Hi Roy,

Thanks for the guidelines (and the great software), I reinstalled QTR, created a quad9880 printer as you described, but still the same message.. guess I'll revert to 10.8

"Couldn't open /etc/cups/ppd/Quad9880-K7.ppd for reading: No such file or directory"

I figured it out.

That Canson Rag Photographique curve (supplied to me my inkjetmall) the install hanging up on had worked previously, so I'd never assume there was anything wrong with it. I opened it in text edit and it looked fine. Then I cut and paste the first line from another curve into it (literally cut and paste the exact same text) and resaved it...and, drum roll, then it installed fine. Figure that one out. So strange.

Anyway, back up and printing!

Thanks for your help Roy. Really appreciate it.

Roy,

For my 3880 with UC inks this worked easily.

For my 9880 with K7 inks, I was able to create the printer (QUAD9880-K7), but I can't get the K7 curves to install.

I tried running the install9880-k7.command script and I tried to drag the install9880.command to the k7 curves and run it (that was my translation of your writing "(for K7: name Quad9880-K7, use QTR 9880)."

Neither worked.

Using the k7 command terminal gives me this:

"/Applications/QuadToneRIP/Profiles/7880-9880-K7/Install9880-K7.command ; exit;

Installing QuadToneRIP Curves Printer Quad9880_K7

Curve 4880-7880-9880-CansonRagPhotographique

Could not find valid inks "bookmark88??" in quad file

[Process completed]"

Any ideas?

Hi all Mac Mavericks,

I've started looking at QTR on Mavericks and there are a couple issues. I think the problems
are all a Privacy and Security additions. OSX now has a Sandbox concept for applications.
The idea is to keep an app's hands off other stuff. It actually started in Mountain Lion but is more informed now.

As of now the QTR driver and code is not setup for Sandbox. So there are a couple issues
that cause trouble.

1) You do have to re-install the QTR software -- re-run the Install-QTR-2.7.2.pkg

2) The printer install scripts can't create a printer but you can do that in Sys Preferences > Print & Scan.
Read the Tutorial.pdf (last few pages) for manually setting up a Bonjour printer. Using this same scheme
for instance create a printer named Quad9880 and Use the QTR 2.7 Epson 9880. Add the printer.
Then go run the Install9880 script to install the curves. (for K7: name Quad9880-K7, use QTR 9880).

This should get you the right printer setup.

3) Another issue is that the print dialog page is not Sandbox'ed so if the program you are printing from
is sandbox9;ed you don't get the nice page. So far PS CS6 is not sandboxed so that's probably ok
and QTR Print-Tool also will work. Most of Apple's programs probably won't but they are not used for
printing B&W usually.

I think this should get people running well enough for a while.

I've installed Mavericks OS X 10.9 on a machine I print from. I had to reset my printers and scanners in the system preferences. When I went back to reinstall the QTR printers (both UC inks and K7 inks) the terminal command gave me this error:

"ALERT! **** QuadToneRIP does not support printer 9880 ****"

Boy oh boy, this is an unexpected headache. Anyone have any thoughts?
