Two possibilities that I know of. First is you can disable the PAPER SIZE CHECK in the printer menu (under PRINTER SETUP). This will definitely do the job but you need to be very careful not to use undersize paper - can be very messy! The other (better) method is to ensure that the paper feeds straight before you start the print. I always feed the paper manually and do a visual check by lifting the lid. If I can see that its straight I then hit PRINT. If it's obviously not straight I eject it and start again.
Because I was getting too many mis-feeds (skewed) I made a crude paper guide to keep the paper on the right path. It's described here http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/42378722

Thank you very much - the prints are truncated as though the paper were narrower, just as you describe.
Lifting the lid when the image starts to print, I notice that the paper does not appear to sit perfectly straight inside the printer, even though I make an effort to put it in straight and fit the guide bars snugly to the paper.
Is there a workaround for this ?

If it's purely in the width then I would suspect that the paper is not feeding perfectly straight. It is a known problem with the 3800/3880 that if the paper is slightly skewed the printer thinks the paper is narrower than it actually is. It will then print only part of the width - unfortunately without warning.

Is this a known problem ?
