RE: Print Tool settings for digital negative

2014-02-25 by <sanking@...>

Luciano,
Here is how I print digital negatives with the Print Tool.
1. First, make sure the image file is saved in Gray Gamma 2.
2. Open the image file in Print Tool. It should open with the embedded Profile Gray Gamma 2.2
Choose "No Color Management" and Click Print.
3. In the second dialog box choose your Quad Printer. Then under Layout choose QuadTone Rip.
4. One you choose QuadTone Rio a second window will open where you choose your Curve (or profile that you have installed), Paper Feed, Resolution, Speed and type of Black Ink. For printing on Pictorico I recommend Resolution = 2880 dpi, Speed = Uni-directional, and if using the Epson K3 ink set, Black Ink = Photo Ink.
No need to click on Advanced Adjustments for Ink Limits and Gamma since you will have have adjusted this in your linearized profile. Type of dither "may" alter grain structure a bit, I generally prefer Adaptive Hybrid.
Once you have made the selections you can save the settings under Presets.
This is all pretty straight forward once you do it a couple of times.
