Jon Cone's Method 3 and Piezography 2 are both capable of very smooth digital negatives. The advantage of the 2 system is that you can use the same printer to make regular Piezography prints as well as digital negatives without changing the inks. With both systems you will choose a curve that gives you approximately the correct density range for your process, and then apply an .acv curve to the image file for final correction.
You could of course write your own profile for digital negatives with the K7 inks. How well it will compare to the Method 3 and Piezography profiles would depend on your profiling skills, and the alternative process you plan to use. For cyanotype or pt/pd I think it is possible to create profiles that would compare favorably, though they might lack the smoothness for printing on smooth papers with silver.
