Might I chime in Homer? In my experience on the 2880 the Cone cartridges do indeed provide an accurate indication of the ink levels. Of course, if one refills a cart before the cart reads "empty" then one manually resets the level to full using the chip resetting tool that is available from Ink Jet Mall and elsewhere.
