Problem Installing A Profile Using QTR 2.7.7 & El Capitan (SIP Issue)

2016-01-26 by Charlie Baggett

Thanks to help from Richard and Roy, I was able to print Inkseparation images
for linearizing my K7 inks to use in making digital negatives. I printed
several inkseparation images at different ink limits to get the density range
I desired. Densities were measured with an X-Rite 361T UV densitometer.
Insertion points for the inks were calculated using an Excel math program and
then transferred to a .txt profile. When attempting to run the install file to
create and save the .quad file, I got an error message stating that the file
could not be saved in the /Library/Printers/QTR/Quadtone/Quad7600-K7 folder
because permission was denied. This is due to El Capitan's SIP function.

I can disable SIP and allow the action. However, I thought this problem was
solved in version 2.7.7. I am pretty sure I installed it before I installed El
Capitan. It is also possible I am mistaken on when I installed El Capitan. In
a post on removing files on Nov 3, Richard provided the following string as
the site where the files were relocated under SIP as
/Library/SystemMigration/History/Migration-(some UUID)/QuarantineRoot/. I went
to this location and found nothing intelligible- to me at least. I took this
to mean that no files had been relocated, e.g; I installed El Capitan after
QTR 2.7.7. I may be confused on that as well.

My question is: can I fix this so that I don't have to disable SIP every time
I want to add a profile? Thanks in advance for any illumination.

Cheers,

Charlie
