having a challenge re-installing my Epson R2400 printer

2016-07-05 by Frank Eberdt

Recently the hard drive on my Mid 2009 15” MacBookPro died and I had to have it replaced.

I want to use this computer both for regular digital printing using Photoshop and for making digital negatives using QTR
with an Epson stylus Photo R2400 printer

I installed El Capitan (OS 10.11.5) on the machine and then installed QTR
then realized I would also need to install Epson’s latest driver for this version of the OS
so that I could do “regular” printing
the Epson web site instructs you to do the driver install using Apple’s System Preference and Printer install tools

When I tried to select the 2400 to add it to my printer list I could only get the selection noted as
“QuadToneRIP 2.7.7 Epson R2400”

So I assume I would have to Remove QTR from the machine so there would not be this conflict
I used the QTR “uninstall” tool, deleted the QTR folder from the applications folder and also deleted QTR from the Library folder

however I still only get the QTR R2400 listing noted above when I try and add the R2400
I restarted the machine but nothing changes

what do I need to do now in order to be able to use this printer for both QTR and for regular digital printing

thanks for your help
Frank
