problem solved (so far, haven’t reinstalled QTR yet)
phoned Apple support and they walked me through how to delete my cached files
that solved the issue

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
