OK, I did that with a similar profile and set C, M, LC, LM as toner inks (yellow not used). It appears the toner inks need a different limit than the default of 55 in my case. For example, my density for cyan was 25. In the curve I modified, it might be 25 but with a limit of say 4. If I print with just the density of 25, the garish cyan color follows. Now with tomorrow morning and some more coffee go back over the instructions and see how to get the non-default limits (I let the default limit apply to the gray inks).
