Re: [QuadtoneRIP] Print-Tool wishlist

Hey Kees.

For now, you can set the page backgrounding in Lightroom print module to black. I haven’t used this option but I just realized it’s there. ;)

To print Linear from Lightroom to QuadtoneRIP select “Other” under Color Management > Profile. Then when the profile selection windows shows up, turn on “Include Display Profiles” and then use the Adobe RGB 1998 profile for printing (perceptual intent). This ensures proper (gamma 2.2) data gets to QuadtoneRIP. If you need to print with an ICC, our upcoming PiezoDN icc profiling app will work with Adobe products (or any other standards compliant software) but for now simply choose Adobe RGB 1998 and SoftProof in Photoshop with the Default-PtPd icc using “Preserve RGB Numbers” turned on to simulate this linear workflow.

Make sure to set 16bit Output, etc.

To save all this as a print template in Lightroom first set your Page Setup, then Print Settings (make sure you DON’T save a preset of these settings, the preset menu should be set to default, then set your print settings and hit save). Then go through the right hand side (sizing, profile, etc). Then save the template. Then when you come back to print another neg you simply select the image, the print template, and hit print.

Best,
Walker

It would be very nice if I could toggle a checkbox to change the Print-Tool canvas to black. This is only possible with the negative setting, but for obvious reasons i can not use that.
