Not tried it with QTR yet it was happening on normal ink as well, after I replaced the head I thought it was a good idea to test it with some genuine Epson carts I had. If the head swap somehow removed that phenomenon, that would be a remarkable discovery. ---In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, <nrexfreeserve@...> wrote : Hi, About 6 months ago I mentioned to this group that I had internal leaks between channels in the head of my Epson 1500W A3 printer that I had used for QTR and normal printing. I had given up on it and consigned it to the loft. I spotted that on ebay “refurbished” heads were available from China. Not sure what can be refurbished on a second hand head I didn’t buy one (£60 to £80) but did take a note from the ebay listing of the other printers that the head fitted . At a local auction I spotted an Epson R265 A4 printer in near new condition which was on the list, my bid of £10 was accepted and after half a day taking the head out and installing it in my 1500w (using the service manuals as a guide). It is now performing as it was when new. Interestingly the “scan” lines at the start and end of the prints that I was plagued with for a year before the head died have also disappeared. The only thing I can’t do is run the Epson Adjustment Program to input head ID shown on the label on the replacement head to set up correct voltages etc etc. I have been unable to find a copy that works and Epson won’t supply me with a copy. As the results are so good I am not sure I need to do it. Just thought I would let the group know, it ended up being a very cheap repair. Anybody know anything about the importance of the adjustment program or where a working copy can be obtained from? Cheers Nigel in the UK
