Hey everyone. Today I’m posting a video on the importance of ink channel smoothing. This is the third video in a series of tutorials around our new Piezography Professional Edition v2 Toolset that we published a few weeks ago. You can view the video here: https://piezography.com/Piezography-Channel-Curve-Smoothing.mp4 <https://piezography.com/Piezography-Channel-Curve-Smoothing.mp4> Ink channel smoothing is something we’ve been doing behind the scenes for a decade or so. We do this for customers when we make a custom QuadtoneRIP curve linearization (whether it be for PiezoDN dig negs or ink-on-paper). What ink channel smoothing does is eliminate the small banding that comes from linearizing with over-smoothed or under-smoothed (or under-averaged) measurements. This feature is now available in full form to people using the PPEv2 set and Piezography Ink curves. I recently finished porting and updating the math around channel smoothing so I figured it was a good time to make the video.
