QTR-Quadtone RIP

The NK7 inkset is designed for matte and fine art papers, not rc based
emulsions at all. Same with all the Piezzotone inks. However, that is
not going to stop me from tying it on the Crane Silver Rag. I don't
expect much but I'll try. There have been reports though of someone
trying K7 in a beta test with a Roland 12 channel printer and the Ergo
Soft Davinci rip to precisely control ink limits. They said the print
tests on Silver Rag "passed the muster", what ever that means. So I
guess it is not totally out of the question. Now the bronzing
situation, they didn't say.

Now the one thing that has occured to me is whether one could
substitue a good PK ink in the darkest slot of K7 to do glossy work.
That would be amazing and produce a really different and innovative
result. But this would destroy all the generic curves that are offered
so would would have to start from the beginning with designing them
for that combination I assume. I have a feeling someone will try that
in the near future. It is an obvious thing to try. But it might also
effect the color neutrality, which is a major reason this inkset was
designed the way it was in the first place. But since the PK would be
the darkest channel and is laying down the max black content, possibly
not visible color change?

If I had another printer and time to devote to that I would. I don't
right now.
