Tom, Mine are also direct USB connected. Any idea who could help : I'm not desperate with the 1290, but I'm thinking of upgrading for a large format printer and roll printing. I'd be really bothered if the same happens with roll printing on a 4000/4800. Have you tried asking at the Gimp community before I do that ?
