I believe that the Cone folks designed the K7's to provide a long, smooth tonal gradation. You can always add contrast in a situation of that sort. I've made prints that are quite contrasty with the K7's; it's just a matter of working on the file while viewing through the ICC profile, either the generic one that comes with the QTR download, or one you've made yourself with the ICC creation tools that are included in the download.
