I could swear I replied to your message via the website a day or two ago,
but it seems it never showed up so I'm not sure what happened.

As you discovered from researching your notes, you cannot print using QTR
directly from Photoshop or Qimage if you're running on Windows. Apparently
it's a little different on the Mac since QTR installs as a system print
driver (I guess?) but that's not the case on windows.

You can't directly print from Qimage (for QTR monochrome, at least), but
what you can do is print to file, generating a TIFF that is then printed via
QTRGui. The main reason to do this would be to take care of any image
resizing or cropping you want to do. For instance if I have a 3:2 ratio 6mp
image tagged at 200dpi I can't really print it as an 8x10 direct from
QTRGui. At the very least it needs to be tagged with the correct image size
and cropped to a 4:5 ratio. I may also want to interpolate the image to a
specific PP. Qimage makes doing all this very easy, and it also has some
layout capabilities that are nice (for instance being able to print 2 5x7's
on an letter-sized sheet of paper).
