QTR-Quadtone RIP

I have an Epson 1270 printer that I want to convert to black and white 
using MIS UT2 inks.  On the MIS site there is a lot of information 
about applying curves in Photoshop when using these inks. It seems 
very complicated.  Will using Quadtone Rip simplify this process for 
me? Is QuadtoneRip all the software I need to use these inks with my 
printer?  How do I set up my printer driver?  Also, I normally use 
QImage to print my color pictures.  Can I use it to print B&W with the 
QuadtoneRip?

I apologize for the barrage of questions, but I am a little confused 
and any help would be appreciated.
