QTR-Quadtone RIP

I had recently printed a small test image on my Epson 1280, using QTR 2.4.2 & UT2 inks. 
My Photoshop CS2 document was 8.5" x 11", but the image was only 2" x 3", set on its on 
its own layer with a transparent background. After the image was printed the cartridge 
continued to travel back & fourth across the entire 8.5" x 11" sheet, as if it was printing a 
whole page. No ink was put down anywhere else on the paper other than the image itself.

I tried pressing "Delete" in the print queue (I run OSX 10.3) after the image had printed, 
but it did not stop the printer from operating. I had to physically shut off the device in 
order for it to stop. I am concerned that doing this repeatedly will harm my printer. Has 
anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions?
