QTR-Quadtone RIP

Please excuse me for this very basic question.  I am using

an EPSON 2400 and  a MIS  K4 inkset and EEM paper. 

My first attempt at using the QuadTone RIP.   

My first attempt at printing using the Quatone Printing window was 
not bad after some trial and error.  I used the Northlight Images 
test pattern for adjustments.

I used the blend and shadow and midtone  adjustment to get a good 
print.

Using just these sliders does it create a  basic curve ( profile) or 
just send the output of the setting to the printer?.

If it does where does it store it.
