No amount of nozzle checking fixed it and just used ink up at a terrible rate. I got some purging images from inkjetcarts.us which showed which nozzle was the problem. They also have individual color images that you can convert to grey scale and clean only one nozzle at a time,using very little ink.As far as getting good results in the ABW mode,perhaps the offending nozzle is not being used in your prints. The Epson ABW uses a lot of colored ink in the printing as you can see in the Paul Roark notes on the MIS site.Also,the refillable 2400 cartrides with the auto reset feature seem to be working,available from inkjetcarts also. I am refilling with Media Street inks which are for the most part O.K.,with the Magenta the least good but within tolerance.I do not use their black inks,preferring to stay with Epson paricularly since the PK has a proprietary encapsulation for best results.I have two 2400's one of which I use for K7,and the other for color and BW toning.
