Last night, pondering the issue yet again, I decided to try removing the Pulse Color Elite software(I uninstalled ColorPort awhile back). Yes, the utility now works, so maybe there is a conflict somewhere here. Of course I have traded the inconvenience of swapping data from notebook to desktop, to uninstalling the X-rite Pulse software and back when I want to use the device for its intended purpose.
