RE: [QuadtoneRIP] Re: QTR/Printer doesn't print after install MIS 3K inks

Chips on MIS carts that don't work are not that uncommon. I recommend
keeping some extras or just taking the chip off the Epson cart and using it
on the MIS cart. (I use a 1/8 inch wide piece of tape across the top to be
sure the chip does not fall off.) Assuming an MIS chip was bad, the OEM
carts should have functioned fine when they are put back in (with their OEM
chips on them). The worst case scenario is if no chip was on a cart. That
can kill a printer by bending the wire contacts in the printer when the cart
is removed.

I've never heard of a bad chip causing damage to a printer. See if there is
something down in the printer that is causing the OEM chip to also not make
contact with the printer contact wires. You might also try cleaning the OEM
chip contacts with a clean, soft cloth.

Is it possible the OEM carts are empty?

Do you have a chip re-setter? They work on OEM chips also. If you do, you
could use those OEM chips, re-set, on the MIS carts and see what happens.

These systems can be very frustrating when they don't work - no question.

Yes Frank, all the carts snapped in correctly. I did it three times
to make sure. I also took out the MIS carts, put back in the Epson
OEM carts and now, NOTHING prints. Not a great first experience with
MIS carts btw. This printer is new. I ran 20 printes thru it in two
days and no problem..until the MIS inks went in.
thanks
Frank
