Re: PROBLEM WITH EPSON 4800 AND QUAD TONE RIP

2008-01-05 by mdhill60_1960

Carl -

I have the 4880 working with QTR with no problems, but I am using it
in standard Quad4800 mode.

I read a post in the DigitalBlackandWhitePrint forum that there are
differences between the chips on 4880's and 4800s. The post indicated
removing 4800 chips and putting them onto the 4800 cartridges was the
way to make K7 work on a 4880. I haven't tried it yet (too chicken!).

I would try printing with Quad4800 with Cone K7 cartridges and
standard Epson 4880 cartridges. I sent an email to InkJetMall about
the compatibility of their refillable cartridges and got a very non-
committal answer. Makes me wonder...

I'd be very interested in hearing about the results of this test if
you try it. I have almost $1300 of k7 ink and refillable 4800
cartridges that I haven't used because I don't want to waste the money
if there are basic compatibility problems.

Good Luck!

Mike
