Steven The Epson R1800 is an incredible printer, but as a tool it must be used in the most appropriate way. As a color GLOSSY printer, I used the Eson Vivid printer setting and it always produced incredible color glossy prints. This was before I bought a system to calibrate my monitor and printer. So if you shoot digital and use Adobe RGB as a color space you should be able to create stunning color prints. I switched my printer to a black-only printer for MATT paper using 3 channels of MIS Eboni matt black carbon ink, QuadTone Rip (thanks Roy Harrington) and the 3MK profile (thanks Paul Roark). The 1800 has the smallest 1.5 picoliter droplet and really makes black-only printing a viable option for many types of work. IF you give us more info when can assist better. Good luck.
