QTR-Quadtone RIP

Dear all,

total beginner question.

I have done some research and reading on the 3 UTBO inks sold by Inksupply and prepared by Paul Roark for the epson R1800 printer.

I still have more doubts than certainties ;)

Here we go:

1) Do I understand correctly that these three cartridges do all contain the same ink ?
2) And that the reason why we need 3 cartridges is not to have different shades of grey, but to have a more uniform pigment deposition guaranteed by three heads vs just one ?

3) If I understood correctly, why can't the same be done with glossy inks ? (I mean, using the PK cartridge in multiple locations, and leaving the glop) ?

4) As far as my tests showed, the matte/glossy selector on QT does not select the ink, only the profile does.
Can I then create a profile for QT that uses only the PK when printing on luster paper ?
What about the gloss optimizer ?
