Sheesh, I think they're down to $143... just checked the Epson site and they are offering a $35 rebate! Gets even more tempting. Well, I had just purchased an 1800 in early summer, with many good reviews, when the 1400 came out. But: 1) the 1800 uses empty carts more readily available, 2) it doesn't have the some say problematic auto-reset carts, and 3) it doesn't use dye inks. Trying to make myself feel better, I know... but I think there's some truth to what I say about the 1800. Oh, and it also has rear-loading for heavy stock, if that's an issue for you. Not quite ready to jump ship here, but I do hear what you are saying!
