When you say "I also noticed that on the short

doesn't print properly." - do you mean you got microbanding in these areas?
Presumably you get this with the epson driver as well.

I get very fine microbanding in the first inch and last inch.
You can't see it clearly with the naked eye, but its clearly there under a
loupe. I haven't tried printing borderless and maybe its worse right on the
edge of the paper. I've seen some comments that all these desktop printers
struggle to control paper feed at the start and end of the paper as only one
set of rollers are engaged.

That said it produces a very fine dot pattern which is very smooth.
