QTR support for Epson R1900?

QTR support for Epson R1900?

2008-08-28 by mrmrking

Hi Roy,

Are you going to be able to release a version of QTR that supports the
Epson R1900 soon? It looks very similar to the 1800 so will the 1800
driver work meanwhile?

Txs,

Mike

I posted a similar question a couple of weeks ago and got no reply so
I went ahead and used the Quad R1800 printing model on my R1900. I
used the UC_EEnhMatte-Cool and UC_EEnhMatte-Black curves which worked
OK except for edges of high contrast where I got what looked like lines of
pure cyan on those edges which made it unusable. The black on it's own
works OK but is almost like sepia. I also noticed that on the short
edges of an A4 sheet the first 1/2" or so of the printable area
doesn't print properly.

Hope the above is of interest,

Mike Hewitt

Mike, Txs for the info.

When you say "I also noticed that on the short
edges of an A4 sheet the first 1/2" or so of the printable area
doesn't print properly." - do you mean you got microbanding in these areas?
Presumably you get this with the epson driver as well.

I get very fine microbanding in the first inch and last inch.
You can't see it clearly with the naked eye, but its clearly there under a
loupe. I haven't tried printing borderless and maybe its worse right on the
edge of the paper. I've seen some comments that all these desktop printers
struggle to control paper feed at the start and end of the paper as only one
set of rollers are engaged.

That said it produces a very fine dot pattern which is very smooth.

Mike

The microbanding problem I've noticed with QTR is obvious to the naked
eye and extends down about 1" from the edge of the paper. I don't
print borderless with the Epson driver and haven't noticed any
problems with it after looking at through a magnifying glass.
