Roy, Yes, the 4000 permits definition and recall of "custom paper configurations" from the front panel. However, these manual settings override the driver configurations. Why is this an issue? Well... if you routinely switch between QTR/B&W and Epson/color... and use different papers/thicknesses/platen gaps for B&W and color... then you must be *very* careful to keep your wits about you and make sure that you have the correct manual (for QTR/B&W) or driver (for Epson/color) settings before pulling the trigger. I guess what we'd like is the ability - within the QTRgui interface - to specify paper thickness and platen gap... much as we can now specify paper size, media source, media type, resolution, speed, and black ink. If we could *completely* specify the QTR configuration as a "preset" - similar to what we normally specify to the Epson driver as a "custom setting" - then we could avoid the 4000 front panel interface altogether - which would be a Good Thing. This would simply be another small step forward toward making the entire B&W/color workflow nearly seamless and error free. The fewer goofy parameters we must regurgitate - print after print - the better, don't you think? TIA for your consideration of these suggestions.
