QTR-Quadtone RIP

I am shopping for a new printer that I will use for "fine art" b/w and secondarily for family snapshots in color. I am looking at the 1400 and the 3880. Aside from the obvious price difference, I would be interested in the group's thoughts, advantages, disadvantages, etc.

Also, does QTR work with the Advanced Black/White mode in the 3880?
