Bob, I think you are confusing ICC profiles with QTR curves. These are two different things and are not interchangable. With this in mind, read throught the tutorials again and also check www.diallophotography.com/pdfs/ QTR workflow.pdf . I downloaded 2 ICC profiles from Eric Chan's website for Exhibition Fiber and Hot Press Bright, and tried to follow the directions on the PDF Tutorial for the Quadtone RIP. I cannot find the download folder "Profiles/InstallScripts" in my Mac (Leopard 10.5) Hard Drive>Applications>QuadToneRIP>Profiles>3800-UC. There is an install command file in the 3800 folder, but it appears to be specifically for the pre-installed ICC profiles that came with the software. I cannot find a script for installing custom profiles anywhere, and I am not sure I understand the directions on how to use if from my reading several times of the PDF Tutorial. In my Quadtone RIP folder under Applications are the following folders and files: (Folder)CurveDesign, (file)DiagnosticScript.command, (Folder)Eye-One, (Folder) Profiles, (file)QTR-Create-ICC, (file)QTR-Create-ICC-RGB, (file)QTR-CurveView, (file)QTR-License.rtf, (file)QTR-Linearize-Data, (file)Tutorial.PDF I am sure this is an easy process, but I cannot figure out the exact places where I need to go, and the exact steps to follow to get these 2 ICC profiles in the system. Can someone help with delineating the specific steps I need to follow to be successful? I have many of Eric's ICC profiles for the 3800 and I use them for the AWB driver for the 3800 printer. Can I use his profile for the Quadtone RIP as well? (As I think about it, why couldn't I use his versus having a custom ICC profile made for the RIP?). If I can use his ICC for the Epson Exhibition Fiber, do you know how I can load it into the Quadtone RIP? I would like to load some other papers' ICC profiles as well. That would be great if I can do that. > > Thanks again, > > Bob > > > --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com , Robert Gaunt <rh.gaunt@> wrote: > > > > Hi Bob, > > > > You might try this. Eric Chan has 3800 & 3880 AWB profiles for a number of papers including Exhibition Fiber on his website. URL is http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/abwprofiles.html They are free to download. I use his profile for the 3880 and Ilford Gold Fibre Silk paper, it is working very well. Actually it works so well I had him do a custom color profile for the 3880 and GFS which is a whole lot better than the one supplied by Ilford. The cost for the custom was $20 which seems reasonable to me. > > > > Eric seems like a really nice guy, responds promptly to emails, answers questions, and has a quick turn around time on the custom profiles.
