I recently made a number of prints from 8x10 to nearly 16x20 with many sizes in between. All had margins from 0.75 in to 2 in. I measured the paper and set up custom sizes with no margins - ie 0 all around. Then centered the image using the print preview, or made adjustments on a couple. Worked flawlessly. This on 7600. Note that I always used a bit bigger margin than you have been discussing. Don't know if that's an issue.
