Re: Epson 7900 works partially

2011-03-18 by shileshjani

Jon,

We, my wife and I, have our "understandings" and "accomodations." The 4880 came about because she wanted a quick color print of our daughter, and I told her to go to Costco. Not a smart move on my part, but I had no color inks loaded in any of my printers. So I got the 4880 for my birthday present, I dare not muck it up with anything other than OEM color. I finally sat down last week and wrote up a few b/w QTR curves for it because my customary b/w 4800 is suffering banding.

I am almost to a point of abandoning 3rd party inks - but I am keeping up about the possibility of glossy compatible Piezo Sepia.

Or, I could run over to Best Buy and pick one up for cheap. Grr, I can imagine my wife's reaction. I have a 4000, 4800, 4880, R2400, R220 all sitting around my office or closets.

I can do this on the K3 printers with GLOP in the Yellow position. This is not the most ideal situation, but at least a fully controllable ink channel is not lost to GLOP. And it may not be possible to dial-in the most ideal ink limit for GLOP overcoat.

Might be a study in PS to make sure it does not send any other inks which would stain the GO. However, one would also need to find the value that triggers about 33% of the GO which is close to ideal, rather than more or less.
