Sheet feed and put the paper in the top slot. I did experience a change in how my 4800 accepted manual feed. I used to be able to load from the front by raising the paper lever, inserting paper and align with white lines, closing level and it aligned for printing. After a servicing a few years back, I needed to load from the top ONLY or the rear, no longer would it accept a front load sheet feed.
