While I was thisclose to finishing a QTR profile (I'm making digital negatives on Pictorico Premium OHP transparency paper for my alt process work using Ron Reeder's excellent Digital Negatives book), the Quadtone RIP dialog box abruptly disappeared. I'm running QTR 2.7.2 on Mac OS X 10.7.1 (Lion) on a MacBook Pro through Photoshop CS5 to an Epson 3800 printer. Here's what normally happens. I choose Print and get the Print dialog box. I then choose Quad3800 (i've already loaded my custom QTR profile through QTR's install.command) and then click on Print Settings. From there, I get the Quad3800 print setting dialog box. I choose the popup menu that starts with "Layout" and pick "Quadtone RIP" which then gets me to the Quadtone RIP dialog box, etc. Since Tuesday night, the Quadtone RIP choice in the popup menu has disappeared. I've tried everything. I've de-installed and re-installed QTR 2.7.2 numerous times. I've even de-installed and re-installed the entire Adobe Creative Suite CS5. I've tracked down old .plist files from older versions of QTR and deleted them. I've even made sure to get rid of the .quad.gz files that are located in that ppd alias file that's located in the user/library/printer/qtr folder before deleting the entire qtr folder itself. In a day's worth of deleting and reinstalling, I managed to get Quadtone RIP to show its face only to disappear once again once I quit Photoshop before attempting to load the custom QTR profile that I had been working on. While I think it may be a Mac Lion problem, I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this same issue, be it on Lion, Snow Leopard (10.6) or earlier versions of OS X. In the meantime, I'm in the midst partioning my MacBook Pro's 1TB drive so I can load Snow Leopard, Photoshop 5 and QTR 2.7.2 so I can continue to work until this problem is solved. Thanks in advance for your help.
