Hi John, Using fixed IP numbers tends to be problematic -- not sure what your particular situation is doing. But anyway the best Ethernet way on a Mac is usually the bonjour system. This automatically sets up IP number for you. You may need to enable this on the printer front panel. But then you just use Print&Fax to add the Quad9890 printer and then Run the install script to add the curves. See the Tutorial.pdf last few pages for more info about this.
