QTR and Wifi, not working at all?

QTR and Wifi, not working at all?

2012-06-26 by dannyvanrijswijk

I tried posting this a few hours ago, but I can't see it appear, so sorry if it will be a double post.

Today I got some sample packs of artpaper to try with my brandnew R3000 and QTR.
I installed QTR and the profiles using a printer cable a few days ago. But now the R3000 is only connected with my Mac using WIFI. I tried to print using QTR in Photoshop, but it does not work, nothing happens.. Is this because of WIFI? In other words, does QTR only work with usb-printer cable? Then I'll have to buy a very long printer cable. :(
Thank you for reading.

Danny.

Hi Danny,

QTR can print over network as well. I'm not familiar with the R3000, but it sounds like it's WIFI enabled. You'll want to remove the USB version of the QUAS-R3000 and re-run the installer. It will ask you for the printer's IP address.

You'll be able to get this from the connected devices list on your wireless router. You'll have to look up how to get that as I don't know what kind of router you have. If your router supports DHCP assignments, make that IP permanent as if your printer or router restarts, that IP address could change (it's just the nature of DHCP leases).

Once you get that IP address, ideally you should be able to plug that in to the QTR installer.

Let me know if this helps at all.

Hi Danny

I am Win7 + R3000 user and I can certainly print QTR over Wifi.
You may want to try out Windows emulation mode on your Mac
if you have .... and in fact, it has a nice GUI :-)
& direct print from QTR ( not through Photoshop )

Hiroshi

Thank you both for your help. I think it is Mac issue, not sure. To save myself from hassle in searging for a solution I bought a 5 meter print cable. Tomorrow I'll give it a shot. If I run in trouble I'll be back ;)

Danny.

Hi Danny,

I too had the same issue with my new R3000 and mac, but I was able to find the IP for the printer by selecting the OK button on the printer, and reviewing the printer settings. the IP came up right on the screen. Then I just uninstalled QTR and reinstalled it as mentioned previously, with the USB cable unplugged. the QTR installer asked me for the IP address of the printer, entered it and problem solved.

Do make sure you have the printer recognized by the network through normal set up procedures with the Epson driver first.

thanks for the help, all!

Hi Wendy, thanks for your help.

The QTR installer never asks me for any IP address, it just installs QTR and that's it.
It even does not show-up in the print dialog if I install QTR without the USB printer cable!
The so-calles 'QUAS-R3000' I have to remove is nowhere to be found..
I am installing the latest QTR on OSX Lion. Epson driver is printing through WIFI without problems. QTR WIFI is not working.

Danny.
