1400 with Paul's 2K-2LK inset question

2012-09-02 by Richard

Hi Folks,

Anybody using Paul's dye based inset for the 1400? I've just started and the one QTR profile Paul has released works great on the Red River Metallic paper. I like a warmer tone - closer to Lenswork - and am having trouble warming up the profile.

I've tried modifying the 2K2LK-RrMetal-15Lm1.quad profile by turning on the Yellow channel as "Toner" with Density = 15 and Limit = 1 and LM as "Toner with Density = 15 and Limit = 2. Using these numbers I get a an unacceptable yellow cast from about 30 to 0 on the test gradient. The magenta tone is very visible from about 60 - 35 and then it disappears.

Anybody have any ideas on what the next step should be?

Thanks,

Richard,

You might want to manually draw the yellow curve, starting by copying the
points from the LC curve. By having the manual curve, you can raise or
lower the points as needed for the particular densities where the tints are
not right.

You can use non-integer ink limits. That is, you're not stuck with 1, 2,
etc.; 1.2 etc. works also.

It's really going to be just tweaking the curves and seeing the results --
no magic formula, unfortunately.
