QTR-Quadtone RIP

I have been using QTR for almost seven years now, and I have recently run into an issue when using rolled paper on my 7800.  What happens is that I set up a custom size print, say 11x22 inches, and pick all the rest of my QTR stuff the way I normally do. The print preview on the CS5 print dialog box looks fine. But when I actually print, the printer won't go past the 8-½" width of a letter size sheet. 

I deleted the entire QTR installation using the instructions in the .pdf included with the distribution and reinstalled. Still having the problem. What is strange is that I can select sheet fed sheets larger than letter size, change the feed type on the printer from roll fed to sheet fed, and it works fine.

Any ideas? Has anyone else run into this? Do I need to reset the Mac printing system?

I had a similar problem maybe ?and Roy sent me this and it worked,

What's going on is that the Preset  (actually Last Used Settings)
has both QTR settings and Epson settings.   The Epson settings come
from some previous
printing that had borderless 13x19 printing.   So it sets this
variable to expand the size by
3% (Epson does this to make sure there's no white line on side).   So  
in the end the
13in wide is multiplied by 1.03 which is too big.   Pretty weird and
contrived but that's whats happening.

I tried to find a way to clean up a particular Preset but OSX seems  
pretty determined.
The most foolproof is probably to Trash all the preset files and  
reboot the computer
and start from scratch.   But the less drastic way that I think will  
work is:
When you are trying to make a Preset,  first select Printer, second  
select Standard as
the Preset, (or on newer OS's its called Default Settings.
select all the options you want and then in the Preset - Save As a new  
name.
The main thing here is not to start with an existing Preset which may  
have old values in it.
Another thing that I'd recommend is to always use Presets for a  
particular printer not
all printers. -- you should see that in the Preset Save window.  Be
sure to keep Epson Presets separate from QTR Presets.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I actually did trash the preset files and start over. Still had the problem. I finally figured out how to make it work, and I think I have uncovered a bug in either the Adobe or OSX or QTR code:

The deal is, it won't let you print with a height that is not at least two digits - i.e. the height of the preset  has to be 10 or larger. I just finished testing this with a new custom preset.  When I tried to create one that was 23" wide and 9" tall, it did not work. When I modified the very same custom preset to print 23" wide and 10" tall, it worked perfectly. So there is some logic in the code that makes 10" height okay, but not a 9" height. I even tried 9.9", and it failed. Add that extra 0.1" and it works. 

So, I guess the rule is this, (for OSX, CS5/6, QTR and Epson 7800):  Don't make a custom preset any shorter than 10" high. 

Strange.

I can confirm that the same issue exists on the Epson R3000. Custom paper sizes under 10" in height cause the paper to eject without printing. Again, this is with Mac OSX 10.8.1, CS5 and CS6. FYI

Wondering if adding a "zero" to single digits would fix the problem. Instead of 9.00", use 09.00"?

I normally use ColorburstRIP. I downloaded QTR today to try out.

I have issues printing on 16inch roll paper with an Epson 7900 Printer.
Roll Paper length of 25.5 cm the print comes out the correct width and placement, but...
1 - with a black line printing down the  RH edge of the print. 
      (Side away from print head park position)
2 - the bottom 5mm of the image missing

At a Roll paper length of 15 cm things go very strange. I get a black line printing down the middle of the paper followed by the left hand half the image being printed.

OS is 10.6.8, CS5.5
