21 Step Wedge, Larger version available?

21 Step Wedge, Larger version available?

2013-02-12 by rossfmj

I am having a bit of difficulty using the standard step wedges available in QTR, as the steps are just a bit small for my Spyder3print. I'm not sure if it isn't sometimes being affected by the sensor going outside the step. It's also a bit of a faff trying to align the sensor. (Currently I'm doing it on my chest with the step print resting on a copy of Steam Steel and Stars, O Winston Link, thoroughly recommended for scanning tests and looking at!).

I had been expanding the strips, when printing, but wonder if this effects the values of the steps, I'm aware ink separation.tif should not be expanded. Also I need to keep away from the ends of the print as micro-banding will affect the steps at the end.

Would I be able to crop the step wedge tiffs in half, "double deck" them and then expand them in Elements without compromising the tonal values?
Is there are larger step wedge available than the ones I've found?

From my side, I usually make my profile with a portrait oriented A4
sheet (or Letter, depending on where I buy the paper). The Inkseparation
file is big enough for my Spyder3print while printed to fit the 21cm of
the A4 sheet. Concerning the 21step wedge, I made my own fil with
circular gray aeras in order to cope with the sensor of the
spyder3print, and it's OK.

You can expand the file without any toning
change, since the aeras are plain grey.

Hope this helps

Sylvain.

This is the one I use with that unit:

Save it as a Tiff file. Read the white from the paper, not the 0% patch,
which is intentionally too small.

Thank you Paul

I have used this before and it does fit, however if you look at my other post you will see I am getting a bit lost with step wedges. This one also has the non-linearity I have found with others.
