Would someone explain what >QTR adds to b&w inkjet prints made on the 2400 using the color inks? I quite unexpectedly have ended up in the black only (BO) printing camp. At least for an exhibition of 17x11 prints that will be hung this weekend. I use the 2200 and have tried both the Epson UC mk and the MIS Eboni mk inks and have tested both EEM and Moab Kayenta papers. At first I thought that the Epson ink was a bit too warm for my tastes. But after comparing two prints under daylight made from the same image but printed BO with the different inks, I've concluded that UC is only a wee bit warmer after all and both are acceptable prints. I did do QTR prints too during my evaluation for this exhibition but on the large prints the smoother QTR output did not improve images. I must admit that initially I was skeptical of BO printing considering QTR's reputation and the effort that has been put behind it -- BO seemed to be too simple and low-tech. But at least in this case, it (Eboni ink, Kayenta, BO) is the winner. Dave. -- David Keenan, ausdlk@... on 9/29/2005
