Fine Art Papers

Can anyone recommend a fine art paper. I realize that this is a little
like asking someone to recommend a flavor of ice cream but with the
expense of these premium papers a little guidance up front is welcome.

In particular I am looking at the Crane Museo II and the Hahnemühle
Photo Rag 188 gsm.

Thanks in advance,
Clay

You will undoubtedly get a 100 or more opinions on this.

Clayton Jones gave Moab Kayenta very high marks in his "Great Paper Chase" article.

I tried it. The 11x17 results are now hanging in an exhibition...

It's double-sided, just a few dollars more then EEM, and a winner in my book.

Dave.

I'd be happy to send you info on our line of archival fine art digital papers. Which printer are you using?

Hi Clay,

I've been using the HPR 188 gsm and have been quite happy with it,
but have noticed the paper cockling (warping) when the ink is really
heavy (mainly in dark areas), and have been planning on going to the
heavier weight.

As to recommendations, I think your best bet is going to be ordering
some of the sample packs and trying out the papers for yourself. You
can get them through most suppliers, such as
www.shadesofpaper.com www.inkjetart.com www.atlex.com etc.
They're usually pretty reasonable costwise and will generally contain
a range of papers. From what I've heard, Moab, Innova, HawkMountain,
Crane and others all have excellent papers, so it really is going to
be a matter of what flavor of ice cream you prefer ;-P

Hope this helps,

Eric
