Getting custom curves to show up in network printer setup

Getting custom curves to show up in network printer setup

2014-04-25 by Mark Savoia

Just set up QuadtoneRIP on Mac, 10.9.2

USB seems to be working fine but want to setup via network. I think I did that all correct, it lets me to print via network now. BUT, I do not see my curves in print setup screen. Where do they hide after being installed for USB? Do I just copy them over to the network printers (folder??)?

Thanks

Mark,

You want to use the bonjour connection for the network. I think most printers have this
enabled but you may need to check on the front panel.

The Tutorial.pdf has info on the on the last couple pages -- to manually set this up.
If you have an Epson driver setup for this the latest QTR 2.7.4 will do this like it does
with the USB connection.

But in any case the crucial issue is to have a printer and the install script to agree in
the name -- i.e Quad3800-K7 goes with Install3800-K7. If you are doing it manually in
Print&Scan you must get your names in sync. Must be done when creating the printer.
The script can be renamed. The script is what installs the curves.

Roy,
I seem to have it connected correctly because I can print to it over the network, its just that when picking the Quad printer as the printer I want to use, all the curves are empty.

I think I understand you when you say the script is what installs the curves but Jon told me to use the Install4900-K.command script for the USB and it worked fine, installed the custom curves he made for me. But it does not install them for the network connection.

Did that.

Read that several times.

I have the networked printer named Quad4900-K7 and the install script is Install4900-K7.command, still can not get it to load curves via script to network print, fine with USB only. Does the printer just need to be named 4900-K7?

Check that, just stumbled on what was happening. Needed to create empty folder in library/printers/qtr/quadtone called Quad4900_K7 (yes _ and not -) then the script ran and installed the curves.

Look in /Library/Printers/QTR/quadtone/[name of your printer]
