Separate linearizations for each tint?

Separate linearizations for each tint?

2014-11-03 by dkosiur@...

I'm in the process of making a series of QTR curves for a paper. I've linearized the data for neutral tint, following Diallo's instructions. One thing I'm uncertain about -- do I go through the data linearization steps for each tint, or do I copy the linearization data that I created for neutral tint to the other three QTR files (sepia, warm, and cool)?

Thanks,

Dave

the addition of the color pigments increases density of the gray curve so you will need linearize each of the neutral/cool/selenium tinted curves. The additional inks should not increase the dmax enough to cause overly blocked up shadows so you don't need to change the ink limits and cross over points for the grey inks (although you might if the ink limits for the C/M/lc/lm are set too high).

The majority of my printing is done with an 80% Warm (k3), 10% Neutral, 10% Selenium (or sometimes 60/20/20 )to balance and smooth out the warm curve. I tend not to introduce any additional yellow to create a "sepia" curve.

Hope this helps.
