Epson 1500W cartridges

Epson 1500W cartridges

2014-11-22 by nigel.richards01@...

Hi, not really a QTR question but I am sure someone can answer it. For the past few years I have been wearing out a succession of Epson 1290 printers using black only printing. So I bought a 1500W (1430) as a replacement, as the epson driver doesn't support the use of just the black cartridge and the greyscale option is dreadful i turned to QTR using a BO curve and the original Claria ink installed just driving the black cartridge . I like the results I get but I want to play with different ink. I have some new refillable ink cartridges with auto resettable chips which I am told by the supplier have to all be all "installed" at the same time and not individually replacing the epson carts as they get used up. So my question is can I take all the part used horribly expensive original ink out and put them back again after playing with the refillable carts. Will they dry out, do they have valves in the exit ports etc etc. any advice will be appreciated.

Another question, is there a UK supplier of the carbon black eboni ink or a UK available alternative.

Thanks

Put some tape over the outlets of the old carts and they'll stay good a long time.

Thanks, I used to do the tape with the genuine epson 1290 carts which I think also had a poppet valve in the exit port but the generic carts always seemed to dry out with tape. Until I get an empty 1500w genuine cart I wont know what the construction is. I presume that the main reason for needing to switch all the carts to refillable at the the same time is due to the auto resetting chips causing confusion to the other carts?
Thanks again, yes your website is very informative and given me much food for thought.
Cheers
Nigel

The auto reset carts I use (from inkjetcarts.us) can be individual swapped
out. I don't see why they all should not work that way considering Epson
has designed their factory carts to be independent of each other. You'll
just have to click past the "non-genuine Epson carts" messages.

Bob,

Can those carts be reset with a chip re-setter?

I get annoyed with the ink being out of sych with the chip.

I don't know. However, I just found a resister that is supposed to work
with ARC chips. It's on order. When I receive it, I'll let you know. I
also have the same problem.

BYW, thanks for all you do. I'm just getting back into BW printing and am
mixing up a batch of Eb6-HP for my R1800.
