jpg file doesn't reduce in the print

jpg file doesn't reduce in the print

2015-08-06 by paulmwhiting@...

I think this issue has come up before but I couldn't find it. I have a jpg file measuring 2069 x 2144 pixels and it's in the Portrait Mode. I want to print it with 1/2" side margins on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. It works out to 109%. But it prints out to about 1" margins. Then, on a hunch, I saved it as a tiff file and it printed out just fine.

Usually this issue isn't a problem, my jpgs will size the way I want - but occasionally this problem does occur.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

Paul

Hi Paul

Jpg's can be a problem and the issue is multiple ways of encoding size
and multiple choices of defaults. Tiffs are always consistent.

Thanks, Roy, that's kinda what I figured. I know when I save a photo as a jpg (and I do thank you for adding that capability for QTR to print jpg's a while back!) there are 3 or 4 ways to save - several kinds of jpgs. Maybe I'll experiment some time and save a file those different ways and see which one gives me trouble. Lately I've been saving first as tiff, then a jpg from that. I should have been saving as a tiff all along, Hard drives are now in the terrabyte region and storage space is cheap.

Best regards,

Paul
